WELCOME TO THIS SPACE
Hi, my name is Booma. Years ago, I was born in Kolkata, India, and my father gave me this name, inspired from the ancient Sanskrit - the word Bhumi, meaning the Earth. And years later, I am inspired by having discovered the grounds of mindful presence and connection, and this motivates me to share my learning and experience with you, for the benefit of all beings, and advance the trend of growing awareness and compassion across the globe.
I invite you to explore this space and enjoy the mindfulness and heartfulness journey in this metaphorical calm clarity sanctuary. You may start where you are! And begin again and again:)

About me
Booma Venkataraman (she/her) has been practicing insight meditation for many years and has attended many immersed meditation retreats. Booma is a graduate of 2021 cohort Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP) with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. Booma is also a certified Mindfulness Mentor. Booma serves on the Board of Insight Meditation Community of Washington (https://imcw.org/). She leads a mindfulness community of practice (Sangha) at her work in the Federal Government.
Booma was drawn to the mystery of spirituality from a young age and has practiced different forms of meditation in India. Later moving to the U.S. she continued to explore her spiritual journey. She chanced on Joseph Goldstein's book, "Insight Meditation," which created a profound shift in her. Later under the embrace of Tara Brach's Sangha, she found the Vipassana (clear insight) teachings to be like a cool, clear, fresh fountain. There was no turning back, and the journey continues to be enriching.
